FIRST-PARTY DATA / SHOPIFY + WHITEBOXX AI
Use order patterns
to plan merchandising tests.
Analyse Shopify basket combinations and order-value distributions to identify product pairings worth testing.
THE ANALYTICAL TASK
Which product combinations are worth a test?
Products that often appear in the same basket can suggest a bundle or placement test. The analysis should show how many orders support the pattern and the spread of order values.
Choose the store, dates and permitted order fields. Existing code paginates order requests and calculates basket and order-value aggregates. Check the returned orders against the store’s expected total.
THE OUTPUT
Product patterns to inform the next merchandising test.
The report shows product combinations, their frequency and order-value distributions. A proposed test specifies the merchandising change and the outcome to measure; it does not assume an uplift.
INPUTS AND DEFINITIONS
Choose the orders and product measures.
| Input or measure | What to establish |
|---|---|
| Basket support | Count eligible orders containing each combination. |
| Order value | Record currency and the treatment of discounts and returns. |
| Test outcome | Measure conversion, order value or margin against an agreed baseline. |
CONNECTOR BUILDING BLOCKS
Validate the order extraction and calculations.
We confirm the API version, store permissions, extraction limits and pagination. Existing calculation code covers basket affinity and order-value distributions.
Margin analysis needs product costs. Multi-currency and net-revenue reviews require agreed definitions. Publishing a bundle or changing product placement is a separate store operation.
PILOT ACCEPTANCE
How should you evaluate a Shopify integration?
| Check | Evidence to review |
|---|---|
| Reconcile the order basis | Compare eligible orders and amounts with the agreed Shopify report, including the treatment of cancellations, refunds, tax and discounts. |
| Count the correct grain | Compute basket combinations at order grain. Repeated line items must not turn one order into several independent baskets. |
| Propose a measurable test | Present product pairings with order counts and the order-value distribution. Frame a merchandising change as a test, not proof of incremental sales. |
PLANNING THE IMPLEMENTATION
Is this a ready-to-use Shopify connection?
Whiteboxx has connector building blocks for Shopify, which must be configured and validated for the selected tenant, source objects and analytical task. The project still needs result reconciliation and any additional application, historical-data or delivery work described above.
